Infrabody, Stuttgart

Stuttgarter Marktplatz

The Autobahn-like roads from the 60s offer countless opportunities for urban regeneration. Here, the 'infrabody' is used as a residential and commercial building, which sits at ground level and  forces the 'Autobahn' below. The idea of an 'infrabody' removes the city roads and restructures the city to its original street pattern. Thus, the previously separated districts (here 'Heusteigquater' and 'Gerberquater') can grow together again, allowing the original network of quiet streets and perimeter block developments.
